WELCOME TO
AZAMA PROGRESSIVE FOUNDATION INC.

The primary objectives and purposes of this foundation to empower our students to achieve their educational and career goals through exceptional services and care. In order to fulfill our mission, we need physical upgrade to the Azama College’s decayed buildings and classrooms as well as adequate chairs and desk to accommodate student learning.

Otuo is rural. Increasingly, poverty in Otuo has worn a 90% rural face. Poverty tends to affect boys and girls differently. Girls are generally less educated, more vulnerable, deprived and powerless than their male counterparts. In Nigeria, a lot of 10-12-year-old girls, whose reproductive system is not ready for intimate activities and childbirth yet, are forced by their parents into marriage. They are stopped from going to school and getting an education and are exploited for serving their husband and giving birth to children. Considering that they are still children themselves, it is absolutely unacceptable, as it kills their future and entire life, exposing them to adulthood so early.

Most of the young girls who are forced into marriage by their parents are completely banned by their parents from going to school. Some of them excelled in studies, so it is safe to say that Nigerian bright young people, who could potentially help develop the country, are shut off, and their potential is destroyed forever. Otuo people experience insecurity and vulnerability (drought, desertification, flooding, deforestation, diseases, volatile commodity markets etc.); lack of empowerment to influence public policies according to their priorities; and lack of opportunities for income generation and benefits from markets. Access to education, is important in reducing vulnerability and increasing prosperity in our community. As a result, we will fund some of these students education from start to finish through the award of yearly scholarship disbursements to 100 students in top 10 academic ranking in their respective classes. In order for the scholarship program to remain in effect yearly. A $3500.00 will be needed to buy a Cashew farm plantation. Cashew production in Nigeria: Nigeria is rated as the fourth largest producer of cashew nuts in Africa and seventh in the world, with the bulk of its raw cashew nuts and cashew kernels exported to Vietnam and India, respectively. We will organize socio-cultural events and activities to raise scholarship funds for students in the communities in which they live and feed the hungry in Houston and Otuo. We are a 501(c) 3 organization here in United States and a Non-Governmental Organization {a 501(c) 3 equivalent} in Nigeria.
